It was reported that inquiries have been received from people desiring to attend a meeting and to serve as possible Trustees. Eddie will follow up on these inquiries. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Copies of the Thursday, February 6th meeting minutes were available for distribution. A motion was made, seconded, and passed for approval. TREASURER'S REPORT: Geoff presented the following report: CHECKING: Beginning Balance: $ 5,722.81 Deposit: 525.00 Expenses: $ 1,208.47 Design Work: $ 250.00 Minute Man Press: $ 936.27 Postage: $ 22.20 Ending Balance: $ 5,039.34 SAVINGS: $ 3,364.68 WM. P. KINCAID SCHOLARSHIP FUND: $ 625.48 INVESTMENTS: (Van Guard) $ 9,363.44 DATABASE REPORT: Dana reported that the current IHHSAA membership is 286. A total of $875.00 has been designated to the William P. Kincaid Scholarship Fund. Establishment of a Lifetime IHHSAA Membership was suggested. Following general discussion it was believed that we should consider creating such a category. It was decided that we table this suggestion until our tax status is determined to allow deductions. E-MAIL NEWSLETTER: Dana reported that the "scowlly" face on the February E-Mail Newsletter has brought many IHHSAA membership renewals. Three were on forms from our October mailing and the rest were printouts from our website. Reminder: Deadline for articles is March 15th. It was suggested that we assemble an annual collection of E-Mail Newsletters to sell. It would contain eleven files as no newsletter is sent out during July. A suggested title was: "What Have I Missed?" A form would be created to order on-line with possible options of a disk, CD, or printed. Suggested cost would be $25.00. It was suggested we might want to offer this upon request as a free perk for Lifetime Membership. MEMBERSHIP/MARKETING: No official report was given at this time as Allison was unavailable. ~Dana noted that funds are allocated to the WPK Scholarship Fund in April and that we currently have four applications. ~It was reported that the January mailing from Minute Man Press has been delayed and will be going out momentarily. Dana will be sending out a separate overseas mailing to 48 alumni. It was noted that, as a Trustee, Sam's class listing was in error and should be 1977. ~Greg gave photos of Jay and Eddie with a brief coverage of change of officers to Sam for submission to the "Indian Hill Bulletin." Following discussion it was decided that Eddie and Greg would assist Sam and prepare a somewhat expanded background article. Ideas for promotion could cover any of the following topics: -IHHSAA Membership: Current Renewal, Delta Sky Miles. -Positions: Officer, Trustee, Committee Member, Class Representative, and Volunteer. -Wm. P. Kincaid Scholarship Fund: Application Submission and Selection. -Archives: IHHS Library Authors Section. Memorabilia: Please direct IH and IHHS items to Greg Johnson, Chair, 513-561-9949, or to Bill Kincaid, Advisor, 513-984-3482. -Northeast Regional Reunion: Is to be held in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 21st. The Southeast Regional Reunion was the first held. It was held in Atlanta, Georgia last year. -Eagle Trophy: Annual presentation for "Best Float" at IHHS Football Homecoming. -Golf Outing: To be held at Crooked Tree Golf Course in Mason on Saturday, October 4th. -Class Reunions: Kits are available from the IHHSAA for $10.00. Each kit contains printed class listing with names, addresses, phone number, and some e-mail addresses; a set of address labels; and a disk. -Items for Sale: Coverlets, Car Decals, and 2001 Alumni Directories. -Other General Information: Visit the IHHSAA website with its links to the IHEVSD websites (http://www.ihhsaa.org) for additional topics of interest. ARCHIVES REPORT: Greg discussed his recent contact with Mrs. Bev Oliver, IHHS Librarian, (513-272-4613), and her current listing of books in the "Authors" section of the Library. Dana reported that this listing is posted on our website under Officers and Trustees. Greg stated that "www.BookFinder.com" was a resource he used to locate a number of these authors and other books they have written. He circulated various copies to show how they are listed on this website. It is hoped that interest can be created so that various alumni authors will donate their published books to the Indian Hill High School Library, 6845 Drake Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45243. SPORTS HALL OF FAME: Greg also presented a mock-up of the Sports Hall of Fame project he and Herb Hillard (Class of 1954) had begun working on last year. He will contact Dr. David Quattrone, Superintendent of Schools, to share his ideas and possible placement in the IHHS building. It was suggested that we post this information on the website according to year. Further clarification of this project may come as alumni are able to review this information and compare it with their memorabilia as well. OLD CHIEFTAIN ISSUES: Bill brought to the meeting a collection of original "Chieftains" that he had received from Jerry Meyer (Class of 1959). The issues began in 1953 and had belonged to his sister Marlene Meyer (Class of 1956). It is hoped that such treasures will be forwarded to us in the future. It was suggested that excerpts be taken from these issues and be included in our E-Mail Newsletters. PAUL V. CONNELL: Bill brought to the meeting an unbound copy of Paul V. Connell's text "Physics Is Phun." General discussion took place regarding handling of this material -- to have copies made for the IHHS Library, IH Historical Society, or IHHSAA Archives in bound book form. It was noted that his late wife, Priscilla Connell, was a well known nature photographer and a book had been published of her photographs following her death. SOCIAL REPORT: Golf Outing -- Jeff had no additional updates at this time. He will submit an article for the March E-Mail Newsletter. Northeastern Area Reunion in Boston -- Jay will be forwarding information to Eddie with his updates and information for this event. Dana reported that he had created an RSVP page on our website and two reservations have come in. We have a large number of alumni located in the Northeast Region and it was recommended that we personally reach out to alumni we know in the area -- e-mail, phone, or mail -- to encourage attendance. EAGLE TROPHY: The Eagle Trophy was borrowed from the high school classroom to show new Trustees and to also determine the addition of future plaques on its square base. It was noted that the front lower base is filled with six plaques. At this level it will serve approximately 12 more years (excluding the back). Dana reported that a bill had been forwarded to him from the Board Office for the "Seniors 2002-2003" plaque and payment has been made. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM. Respectfully submitted, Joan K. Ewell WILLIAM P. KINCAID BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: Following the meeting we celebrated Bill's 80th birthday with cake and ice cream. There was also a presentation of cards and gifts bearing the IHHS logo. Dana presented a portfolio, on behalf of the Officers and Trustees, containing 90 e-mail messages for Bill from IHHS alumni who had responded to a secret e-mail that had gone out several weeks ago. Dana mentioned that he had selected an e-mail message for Bill to appear in this month's E-Mail Newsletter. A special thank you and appreciation to Mrs. Rosemary Wetterstoem of the Board Office for her kind arrangements and helping us make this a great event for Bill.
