For the second time, the
Alumni Association decided that since there are many graduates who can
not travel all the way back to the old haunts, we'd bring the All-School
Reunion to them.
So, we planned to hold the 7th All-Member Alumni Association Reunion
in New England.
Jerri (Friedman) Menaul, class of 1978, and her husband, Scott,
graciously volunteered her lovely home in Canton, Massachusetts
for the occasion.
But, something came up!
Jerri's husband, Scott, somehow sold his business....
...so they had to put their home on the market - and it
sold in a flash!
This meant that we couldn't have the party at their home!
In fact, they weren't even going to be in town on the
weekend of the Reunion!
Fortunately, Jerri and her assistant were able to scout around,
and found a marvelous restaurant named Joshua's, where we could
move the reunion.
It was located in the nearby town of Norwood,
on the main drag (Providence Highway), and was easy for everyone
to find.
By the way, we would highly recommend Joshua's to anyone
who is in the area.
It is truly a super retaurant, with a most
remarkable menu. Just about whatever you fancy, they have!
Dana and Joan (Klee) Ewell ('58), joined former English teacher,
Golf Coach, Chieftan Editor, Thespian director, honorary member of
the class of 1959, and all-round everything, Mr. Bill Kincaid (for
whom the Alumni Association's Scholarship program is named), as the
members of the Cincinnati deligation. They represented the Alumni
Board of Trustees at the reunion.
A special room was set aside by the kind folks at Joshua's,
so we could all visit and reminisce.
Since we no longer had the luxury of Jerri and Scott
Menaul's home, we felt well cared-for by Joshua's.
If you've never been to a reunion, one of the special things
that take place is seeing folks you haven't seen in decades.
Here, Bill Kincaid visits with one of the alums he hadn't seen
in a long time, Kristy Lohrum, class of 1973.
Here, Bill reunites with Lori Davison, Class of 1980,
who now lives in West Hartford, Connecticutt.
She even brought back her old Indian Hill "Chieftain"
for Bill to see.
The opportunity to share life stories and to catch up with
each other is one of the best parts of coming to a reunion.
Bill visits with Mike Petraglia, class of 1984, and his wife
Karin. Mike is a site reporter for the Boston Redsox.
One of the real kicks of the All-Member Reunions is to see
friends you knew way back in Indian Hill, who were in
one of the other classes.
Here, Scott McDermott, class of 1975, has the chance to
catch up with Peter Sanborn, Class of 1977.
Bill Kincaid is reviewing an old copy of the "Chieftain,"
and shares with several attendees. They are, from left to right,
Bill's nephew, Brian Robison, who teaches Music and Drama at M.I.T.
(who was able to take advantage of the opportunity and join Bill
for dinner), Peter Sanborn ('77), and Stona Fitch, class of 1979.
Behind them is Scott McDermott ('75), while Kristy Lohrum ('73)
is to the right.
Stona Fitch ('79) is a well-known published author. Bill, who
hosts a book club at his home next month, took advantage of the
opportunity to be with him, and brought a whole bag of books for
Stona to personally sign for each of the club members (won't they
be surprised at the meeting!).
Stona regailed Bill with a story about how he had found one of
his early books for sale in a 2nd hand book store. This particular
edition is now rare, so he bought it - opened it - and discovered
that he had autographed it to his own aunt and uncle
years before! He later called them up and told them that they
owed him $10 for the book he had reacquired!
It is always so much fun when someone shows up that you haven't
seen in years.
William Berutti from the class of 1988 caught Bill off guard
when he arrived with his wife, Pamela from their home in
Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Here are some of the folks who came the farthest. Laurie
(Connor) Schott, class of 1966, drove in from Danbury,
Connecticutt with her husband, Charles. They are visiting
with Barbara (Seibert) Cummins, class of 1959, who, while
living in Batavia near Cincinnati, just happened to be
attending a family get-together in Providence, Rhode Island
so she and her husband, Gary, were able to come to the
reunion.
The New England Reunion was, even with the change in location,
a HUGE success.
It was amazing how many people had no idea
that there were so many other IH'ers in New England.
Here, our delegation gets ready to head back to the midwest.
